Won the tie-down roping title at the Rowell Ranch Rodeo (Hayward, Calif.). Tore his pectoral muscle the end of June, an injury that required surgery, and was sidelined the rest of the year.
• 2004 – Won his first world title with $193,614 in earnings. Won Round 2 with a time of 3.1 seconds, Round 4 in 3.7 seconds, Round 5 in 3.3 seconds, and placed in Rounds 7, 8 and 9. Had the world title locked up after Round 9. Set the regular-season earnings record (prior to the Wrangler NFR) in steer wrestling with $125,625 and the single-season earnings record (after the Wrangler NFR) with $193,614 (these records were broken in 2005); won the Southwestern Livestock Show and Exposition (Fort Worth, Texas), Red Bluff (Calif.) Round-up, Ogden (Utah) Pioneer Days, Snake River Stampede (Nampa, Idaho), and the American Royal (Kansas City, Mo.); won Pace Picante ProRodeo Chute-out title (Las Vegas, Nev.), was a semifinalist at Pace Picante ProRodeo Challenge (Omaha, Neb.) and finished second at the Pace Picante ProRodeo Classic (Dallas); won the year-end steer wrestling title in the California Circuit.
• 2003 – Won Redding (Calif.) Rodeo, Horse Heaven Roundup (Kennewick, Wash.), and Walla Walla (Wash.) Fair & Frontier Days Rodeo; tied for first in Round 5 with a 3.6-second run at the Wrangler NFR. Finished the year ninth in the world with $102,876.
• 2002 – Sisters (Ore.) Rodeo, Snake River Stampede (Nampa, Idaho) and Puyallup (Wash.) Fair & Rodeo.

Uses an insulin pen to get his insulin...Parents are John and Brandy…He and his family survived a wreck in March 2002, when their rig hit a patch of ice and slid off the road…At the 2003 Redding (Calif.) Rodeo, both Luke and his brother Casey won event titles…Has an older brother, Tony, who works on the ranch and is a substitute teacher at a grammar school…When he missed the 2005 Wrangler NFR due to injury he helped call the action for the ProRodeo Radio Network....Traveled with fellow Wrangler NFR steer wrestling qualifier Billy Bugenig during 2007 season.
