Fair and Frontier Days and shared the title at the Newman (Ga.) Pro Rodeo and Cowboy Capital of the World Pro Rodeo (Stephenville, Texas); won team roping titles (with Clint Robinson) at the Magic Valley Stampede (Filer, Idaho) and Spanish Fork (Utah) Fiesta Days Rodeo; earned tie-down roping titles at the ProRodeo Tour Summer Finale (Omaha, Neb.), Southwestern International Livestock Show & Rodeo (El Paso, Texas), Central Wyoming Fair & Rodeo (Casper, Wyo.) and Molalla (Ore.) • 2005 – Became the second-youngest all-around world champion in the sport’s history. He collected his first world title at the age of 21. Ty Murray was the youngest at 20 in 1989. Derailed Trevor Brazile in his quest for a fourth consecutive world all-around title. Won the Wrangler NFR average title in the tie-down roping with a total time of 89.0 seconds on 10 head. Won a total of $263,665 for the year, finished 10th in the steer wrestling world standings with $105,042, and was sixth in the tie-down roping with $154,164; won the second-most money over Cowboy Christmas with $19,343; only competitor to qualify in two events at the Wrangler NFR; won all-around titles at the Ellensburg (Wash.) Rodeo, the Richmond (Ky.) Pro Rodeo, the Franklin (Tenn.) Rodeo and was co-champion at the Cody (Wyo.) Stampede.
• 2004 – Finished 28th in the world standings in tie-down roping with $33,043 and was 17th in the all-around standings with $65,220; won the Southeastern Circuit’s year-end title in steer wrestling; won the tie-down roping and team roping (with Casey Cox) at Southeastern Circuit Finals Rodeo and won steer wrestling and tie-down roping titles at Richmond (Ky.)
